(Central News Agency reporter Tsai Meng-yu, Kaohsiung, June 15) To encourage marriage and parenting families to settle in Kaohsiung, Mayor Chen Chi-mai today announced the launch of the 'Childcare Rental Subsidy 3.0.' Families with a second child will receive a 50% increase in rental subsidies, while those with three or more children will receive a 100% increase, allowing them to receive up to NT$36,000 annually.
The Kaohsiung City Urban Development Bureau released a press statement today, explaining that the city has comprehensively upgraded its 'Childcare Rental Subsidy 3.0' program, expanding support to all renting households with children aged 0 to 12.
Eligible recipients include households already approved for the central government's NT$30 billion rental subsidy, those approved for Kaohsiung City's additional rental subsidy, and all tenants renting social housing units built by the Kaohsiung City government or the central National Housing and Urban Development Center. The city government will use revenue from vacant housing taxes to provide additional support.
For the high-cost childcare period of '0 to 2 years,' under the previous 2.0 version, families with a second child received NT$12,000 annually, while those with three children received NT$18,000. Under the new 3.0 version, families with a second child will receive a 50% increase, raising the annual subsidy to NT$18,000. For families with three or more children, the subsidy will increase by 100%, doubling to NT$36,000 annually.
The city government also stated that even after children enter the '3 to 12 years' preschool or elementary school stage, subsidies will continue. For families with a second child, the subsidy will increase from the previous NT$8,000 to NT$12,000. For families with three or more children, the amount will rise from NT$12,000 to NT$24,000.
Additionally, to encourage local settlement, the popular 'household registration bonus for Kaohsiung residents' mechanism will continue. Families with children aged 12 or younger registered in Kaohsiung City will receive an additional NT$2,000 per child annually. (Edited by Chen Jen-hua) 1150615
