(Central News Agency reporter Lin Xingjian, Manila, May 15) Taiwan-funded printing company Hosan held a grand inauguration ceremony today for its new factory, coinciding with the company's 10th anniversary in the Philippines. With strong confidence in the future of Philippine manufacturing, the new facility is expected to significantly enhance production capacity and drive local employment and supply chain cluster development.
Hosan's new factory is located in the LIMA Economic Zone in Malvar, Batangas Province, Philippines. The ceremony was attended by Wu Litang, Chairman of Qiaokun Group; Wu Tianren, Chairman of Hosan; Chow Min-Kan, Representative of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to the Philippines; Malvar Mayor Artemio Abu; and officials from the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
The event featured speeches by dignitaries, a monument unveiling, ribbon-cutting ceremony, tree planting, and a factory tour.
The Hosan facility spans approximately 20,000 square meters and employs nearly 500 workers. In addition to expanding production capacity, the company plans to introduce a solar power generation system, strengthen waste recycling, and optimize production processes, advancing toward green manufacturing and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals.
In an interview with CNA, Chairman Wu Tianren stated that the company had previously operated in rented facilities, but growing business demands made the space insufficient. Therefore, in 2024, the company purchased land and constructed its own factory. The new plant was completed in April 2025 and officially commenced operations after a two-month relocation period.
Regarding continued investment in the Philippines, Wu expressed strong confidence in the country’s economic prospects. He highlighted the friendly relationship between the Philippine government and Taiwanese businesses, smooth communication with local authorities, and the widespread use of English, which helps reduce training and management costs.
Representative Chow Min-Kan congratulated Hosan on its new factory, noting that an increasing number of Taiwanese companies are investing in the Philippines, gradually forming industrial clusters. These companies are building supply chain partnerships, enhancing the overall competitiveness of Taiwanese businesses in the country.
He added that the Philippines has been continuously improving its investment regulations and business environment, with PEZA actively promoting investment and providing enterprise support services. He encouraged Taiwanese businesses looking to expand into Southeast Asia to conduct on-site visits.
Mayor Abu stated that the entry and expansion of Taiwanese enterprises help increase tax revenues, enabling local governments to strengthen public services such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, environmental protection, and social welfare. More importantly, corporate investment directly creates jobs, helping more families achieve stable incomes.
Hosan entered the Philippine market in 2016, primarily engaged in printing and product packaging manufacturing. Its clients span electronics, computer peripherals, smartphone accessories, network communication equipment, and artificial intelligence (AI) industries, as well as consumer goods, beauty and skincare, and health food sectors.
After a decade of深耕 (deep localization), the company has continuously upgraded its technology, quality control, local operations, and industrial chain integration. Hosan is now capable of fulfilling high-standard international orders, demonstrating how Taiwanese enterprises are deepening their investments in the Philippines as a key regional hub.
