Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang led his team today to attend the '10th World Cities Summit 2026' held in Singapore, engaging with mayors and city representatives from around the world to exchange governance experiences and expand international collaboration opportunities.
In a press release, Mayor Hsieh stated that Keelung is a city born from the sea and developed through its port. In recent years, the city government has actively promoted port-city regeneration, transportation infrastructure, smart governance, urban renewal, and tourism upgrades, adopting the vision of a 'Smart Ocean Sustainable City' for urban development. Facing global urban competition and industrial transformation, city governance requires not only innovative thinking but also international exchanges to learn from successful models worldwide and grasp future development trends.
Mayor Hsieh emphasized that the World Cities Summit brings together urban leaders from Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania, serving as a vital platform for city diplomacy and experience sharing. In addition to participating in forum sessions, he engaged in discussions with mayors and city representatives on topics such as urban renewal, sustainable development, smart governance, and port city transformation, aiming to foster international partnerships.
The city government noted that this year's summit is themed 'Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Act Now, Accelerate, Collaborate, Transform,' focusing on how cities globally can address challenges like climate change, industrial transformation, demographic shifts, and urban resilience through innovative governance and cross-sector collaboration to accelerate sustainable urban development.
