US Vice President JD Vance announced today that the agreement between the United States and Iran was electronically signed yesterday, meaning the terms have already taken effect. Iran must verifiably destroy its stockpile of highly enriched uranium before any frozen funds are released.
According to CNN, Vance told ABC's morning news program 'Good Morning America': 'We electronically signed this agreement yesterday. No funds have been released at this time, and that will not change.'
Reuters reported that in a separate interview with 'Good Morning America,' Vance stated that the planned signing of a memorandum of understanding with Iran in Switzerland on the 19th will not result in the release of any frozen assets.
Vance emphasized that Iran will only receive funds after taking verified actions to destroy its stockpile of highly enriched uranium. (Compiled by Chen Cheng-chien) 1150615
