U.S.-Iran War Key News
(Central News Agency, Evian-les-Bains, June 15 —综合 international news reports) U.S. President Donald Trump announced today that the Strait of Hormuz will be "fully open" from the 19th, following an agreement between the United States and Iran to end the Middle East war. Shipping routes, previously restricted, will return to normal.
According to AFP, prior to the G7 summit in France, Trump held bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron. At the start of the meeting, Trump stated that after London and Paris proposed a joint naval mission, he believes the U.S. "doesn't need much help" in maintaining the strait's openness.
Trump said the Strait of Hormuz is "already partially open," but "clearance operations" are still underway to ensure mines are fully removed.
He praised the agreement with Iran, stating: "Most importantly, Iran will not have nuclear weapons."
On February 28, the first day of the U.S.-Iran war, after Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was reportedly killed, Trump claimed that Washington is now "getting along very well" with Tehran's new leadership.
"The first batch [of leaders] is gone, the second batch is gone, and we found the third batch to be very smart... In the end, we reached an agreement," he said.
He did not specify which leaders he was referring to.
"I think many good things will happen in the Middle East now," he said, adding that Vice President JD Vance will attend the signing ceremony on the 19th, though he did not disclose the exact location. (Translation: Chen Yuting) 1150616
