U.S.-Iran War Key News

Central News Report

(Jerusalem, Central News Agency, 15th – compiled international news) Hours after Iran and the United States announced an agreement to end the Middle East war, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated today that Israeli forces would remain in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria 'for as long as necessary.'

According to AFP, Netanyahu said during a televised press conference: 'We have established deep security zones around Israel and have already taken action in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.'

He emphasized: 'I want to make this clear: as long as necessary, we will remain in these security zones to protect our country.'

He also claimed that joint U.S.-Israeli military operations against Iran had shielded Israel from what he described as the threat of 'nuclear annihilation' by Iran.

Netanyahu said: 'Most importantly, we have saved the State of Israel from the threat of nuclear destruction.' This was his first public comment following the agreement reached between Washington and Tehran to end the Middle East war.

He added: 'And what does that mean? It means that millions of Israeli citizens—those of you listening to me now—would have faced the terrifying danger of mass death… We have pushed back the threat of annihilation facing the Israeli people by several years.'

Amid domestic criticism over his handling of the Middle East war and its aftermath, Netanyahu plans to run in elections later this year and seek re-election. (Translation: Chen Yuting) 1150616
