Man Breaks into Chiayi School Dormitory, Sexually Assaults Two Players; Chiayi Prosecutors Indict and Seek Enhanced Sentence

(CNA reporter Huang Kuo-chang, Chiayi City, May 15) The suspect, identified as Mr. Hou, was a friend of the principal of an elementary school in Chiayi County. He was accused of exploiting his role in transporting close members of a youth sports team, breaking into the team's dormitory twice in April during the early hours, and committing indecent acts against two players. The Chiayi District Prosecutors Office has concluded its investigation, indicting Hou and requesting that his sentence be increased by half under relevant regulations.

According to the indictment filed by the Chiayi District Prosecutors Office, the two victims were middle school athletes from a sports team in Chiayi County, collectively housed in a dormitory at an elementary school. Hou became acquainted with the elementary school principal and occasionally acted as a driver for the team on holidays, helping transport players from distant areas, attending games, or delivering drinks, through which he met the two victims and learned the location of the elevator sensor in the dormitory.

The prosecutors stated that Hou once broke into the dormitory late at night in April and performed indecent acts on one of the players. The victim noticed something was wrong, covered themselves with a blanket, and moved toward another player nearby. However, Hou did not stop, and only ceased his actions when the victim got up and left the bed.

The prosecutors said that Hou broke into the dormitory a second time in April to sexually assault another victim. The previously assaulted player was too afraid to sleep. Later the same day, three hours after the first incident, Hou re-entered the dormitory and successfully committed indecent acts against the first victim again. The case came to light after the victims' parents filed a complaint.

The prosecutors indicated that during the assaults, Hou used a flashlight to identify specific victims due to the darkness in the dormitory. The victimized players tried to avoid Hou's advances by turning their bodies. At the time of the assaults, other players sleeping nearby were still awake and witnessed the incidents.

The investigation has concluded, and Hou has been indicted on suspicion of committing indecent acts by taking advantage of the situation. Because the crime was intentional and targeted minors, prosecutors have requested a 50% sentence enhancement under the Child and Youth Welfare and Rights Protection Act.
