Regarding the restoration of free and safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and the final agreement on Iran's nuclear issue, Koishi stated, 'I strongly hope that the relevant agreements will be effectively implemented and realized as soon as possible.'
Koishi 'highly valued' the efforts of countries that have long played a mediating role. On Japan's position, she said: 'The top priority is to immediately and firmly de-escalate the situation, and Japan has consistently carried out active diplomatic efforts.'
Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi stated: 'We will continue to work closely with the international community and make every diplomatic effort to achieve peace and stability across the Middle East.'
An unnamed senior official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the U.S.-Iran agreement while indicating that Japan would carefully examine the details of the agreement and its future implementation.
The official said, 'Even if this is only a temporary end to the conflict, it is still reassuring. However, we must now pay close attention to whether peace can be steadily achieved step by step,' and pointed out that reopening the Strait of Hormuz would have a positive impact on Southeast Asia and other regions.
