(Central News Agency, Oslo, 15th - comprehensive international report) Marius Borg Hoiby, the eldest son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, was convicted today by a court in Oslo of two counts of sexual assault and 32 other charges, receiving a four-year prison sentence in a high-profile scandal that has severely damaged the royal family's reputation.

According to AFP, the 29-year-old Borg Hoiby, born to Mette-Marit and a former partner, is now the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon. He holds no royal title and has no official duties.

Borg Hoiby faced a total of 40 charges, including sexual assault and traffic violations, with a maximum possible sentence of 16 years in prison. One of the sexual assault cases he was accused of occurred in 2018 at the official residence of the Crown Prince and his wife.

While acquitted of two other sexual assault allegations, the court found him guilty of repeated domestic violence against a former girlfriend, traffic violations, threats, drug-related offenses, and other charges.

Norwegian prosecutors had initially requested a sentence of seven years and seven months.

Borg Hoiby has been in custody since February this year and has denied the most serious charges, including sexual assault. Prosecutors stated that during the assaults, the victims were asleep or unconscious.

Borg Hoiby attended the sentencing via video link and did not appear in person.

Prosecutor Sturla Henriksbo told AFP: 'I believe this verdict represents a victory for the justice system, proving that no one, regardless of who they are or what connections they have, is above the law.' (Translation: Hung Chi-yuan) 1150615
