Golden Melody Awards Key News
(Taipei, June 15, Central News Agency reporter Hung Su-chin) Singer Peng Chia-hui has been nominated for this year's Golden Melody Award for Best Female Singer. She said her vocal style this time differs from previous years, and she is delighted to receive recognition from the judges. She is also excited to compete with other strong female singers and proudly declared, 'I can say I’m nominated alongside Jolin Tsai.'
Speaking at a Golden Melody Awards media interview, Peng Chia-hui said she is trying to maintain a calm mindset. She revealed that in the past, she once cared deeply but failed to make the shortlist. 'The Golden Melody Awards have a certain magic. When you keep working hard and get acknowledged by the judges, it brings real joy,' she admitted. This time, her singing style is no longer loud and powerful as before. 'I wasn’t sure whether the judges would appreciate this kind of work. It really depends on their preferences,' she said candidly.
When asked about her fellow nominees, Peng shared that she was eager to tell her child the good news, only to be met with her daughter’s comment: 'Why did you get nominated? Others are stronger.' Peng laughed and replied, 'Your mom is strong too.' Her daughter insisted that Jolin Tsai is stronger, prompting Peng to say, 'I can proudly say I’m nominated alongside Jolin Tsai—but in truth, every nominee is a strong competitor.'
Peng also mentioned Chen Hsien-ching, who is nominated in both the Best New Artist and Best Female Singer categories. 'She has rich creativity. If we were to produce a new album, we’d take different directions,' Peng said. She acknowledged that making the Golden Melody shortlist is never easy and that any winner would be deserving. 'After 30 years in music, I’m still releasing albums. The music industry truly needs young, creative artists like her to grow together,' she added. (Edited by Chen Jen-hua) 1150615
