Central News Agency Report
(Central News Agency reporter Lu Kang-chun, Hsinchu County, June 15) — The Hsinchu County Kuomintang (KMT) Party branch announced today the results of the internal opinion poll for the Zhubei mayoral primary. Among the four candidates—Hsinchu County Councilors Chiu Ching-ya, Lin Yu-yu, and Wu Hsu-chih, along with Zhubei City Council Chairman Lin Chi-hsien—Wu Hsu-chih emerged victorious and will represent the Blue Camp in the next Zhubei mayoral election.
The Hsinchu County KMT branch released the primary poll results tonight. Party Chairman Yang Wen-ke stated that four individuals had expressed interest in running, and all had agreed in advance to accept the internal poll results as the final basis for nomination. The survey was conducted over three days from the 12th to the 14th, and the results were announced today, with Wu Hsu-chih securing the nomination.
Regarding opposition party coordination, Yang Wen-ke emphasized that the KMT maintains an open and cooperative attitude. The party will work with the Taiwan People's Party (TPP) to jointly nominate one candidate with the highest chance of winning and strongest capabilities. He expressed confidence that KMT members would stand out during the integration process.
Wu Hsu-chih stated that the Zhubei mayoral race is not a one-person battle but requires leveraging the valuable policy proposals and local experience of the three other primary candidates. He pledged to integrate their urban development visions into a cohesive plan to maximize benefits for Zhubei residents.
TPP Zhubei mayoral candidate Chiu Chen-yuan stated in writing that the current priority is not political maneuvering but continuing to engage grassroots communities, listening to citizens' voices, and presenting concrete and feasible policy visions to gain public support.
Chiu Chen-yuan added that the TPP is currently not in any formal coordination process with other parties and has not pre-set any format. Should future discussions arise, both party headquarters and established mechanisms must be respected.
Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Hsinchu County branch chairperson Su Jen-chien stated that the DPP has its own strategic planning for the Zhubei mayoral race. The candidate must not only continue the vision of incumbent mayor Cheng Chao-fang but also be a capable individual recognized by the central party. The DPP will not hastily nominate someone or form arbitrary alliances solely for electoral victory. (Editor: Chen Jen-hua) 1150615
