(Central News Agency reporters Cheng Wei-chen and Wu Che-hao, Changhua, June 15) — The Kuomintang (KMT) Changhua County Party Branch announced today the results of the public opinion survey for the Yuanlin mayoral primary. Changhua County Councilor Tu Chun-jen won the nomination, defeating fellow councilor Liu Hui-juan, who has expressed full support for the outcome. The Changhua County Party Branch stated it will report the results to the central party headquarters for formal approval of the nominee.

KMT Changhua County Party Director Hsiao Ching-tien released the survey results conducted from June 12 to 14. The county party branch said it will promptly convene a nomination review committee meeting to submit the candidate recommendation to the central party based on the poll results.

"The end of the primary marks the beginning of unity," said Tu Chun-jen. He expressed gratitude for the public's support, stating that the primary set a positive example through open, fair, and impartial competition. The shared goal, he emphasized, is to secure a KMT victory and maximize public welfare. "I will take full responsibility and give my all to live up to the expectations of our community," he pledged.

Liu Hui-juan said she respects the primary outcome, noting that the value of democracy lies not in temporary wins or losses, but in competition and dialogue that amplify public voices and steer the community forward. "There are winners and losers in polls, but no losers in public service. Elections have an end, but responsibility to our hometown has no end," she said. She vowed to remain committed to her original mission, continuing to focus on local development, overseeing public affairs, and advocating for residents.

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Changhua County Party Branch stated it will nominate its candidate through a recruitment (zhengzhao) process. Several candidates are currently under consideration, but a final decision has not yet been made. The DPP aims to finalize its nominee by the end of June at the latest, emphasizing it will not be absent from this electoral race. (Edited by Li Ming-tsung) 1150615
