Central News Agency Report

(CNA Reporter Hsieh Yi-hsuan, Taichung, June 15) This year, Taisugar has partnered with a gold medal-winning master distiller and a Michelin-recognized chef to launch a limited-edition gift box, 'Ippu Shochu & Tender Wagyu,' commemorating its 80th anniversary. Taisugar Chairman Wu Ming-chang stated that over the past 80 years, Taisugar has continuously improved, and as a state-owned enterprise belonging to the people, it will continue to deliver high-quality products to the public.

Taisugar held a press conference today at the Kamitsue Momotaro Sake Brewery in Taichung to unveil the 80th-anniversary limited-edition product, the 'Ippu Shochu & Tender Wagyu' artisan gift set, and invited a master distiller from Kagoshima to attend.

In his speech, Taisugar Chairman Wu Ming-chang emphasized that Taisugar has consistently advanced over the past 80 years. As a state-owned enterprise, it belongs to the public, and the company will continue to contribute premium products to society.

Taisugar stated that the centerpiece of the gift set, the 'Tsui' Black Sugar Shochu, was meticulously distilled by Associate Professor Chen Chien-hao of National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism using black sugar produced at the Huwei Sugar Factory. In 2025, it triumphed at the World Spirits Competition, winning a gold medal among 2,598 spirits from 70 countries, successfully transforming traditional black sugar into a 'black gold industry.'

To further extend its brand value, Taisugar specially invited Michelin-recognized chef Chien Tien-tsai to prepare Taisugar's Wagyu using low-temperature cooking techniques to lock in the meat's natural juices and sweetness, paired with proprietary Kentchu spices and the specially distilled Ippu Shochu. Consumers can not only sear the Wagyu themselves but also experience a star-level culinary delight where the aromas of alcohol, meat, and local terroir intertwine.

Taisugar emphasized that this gift set not only consolidates the company's achievements in sugar production, distilling, and livestock farming but also embodies its 80-year commitment to local cultivation and continuous innovation. Through tangible actions, Taisugar is redefining 'local value' by innovatively integrating with indigenous agriculture, allowing consumers to immerse themselves in Taiwan's unique flavors.

The gift set is limited to 2,000 units, combining the 'Tsui' Black Sugar Shochu—crafted from Taisugar's black sugar and awarded a gold medal at the 2025 World Spirits Competition—with premium Taisugar Matsusaka pork, expertly seasoned and supervised by a Michelin chef, merging Taiwan's agricultural heritage with local liquor culture.
