(Taipei, April 14, Central News Agency reporter Chen Jung-chen) The Taipei Fubon Braves of Taiwan's P.LEAGUE+ secured a crucial victory today, defeating the defending champions, the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots, 87-78. The win was sealed by a decisive dunk from rookie import Mobaye in the closing moments, giving the Braves a 3-2 lead in the championship series.
The P.LEAGUE+ finals follow a best-of-seven format. After the first four games ended in a 2-2 deadlock, the Braves traveled to face the Pilots in their home arena. In the first half, the Braves maintained a high three-point shooting percentage, building a lead of over 20 points. Despite a strong second-half comeback by the Pilots, the Braves held their composure in critical moments to secure a 9-point victory, putting them one win away from the title.
From the opening tip, Braves rookie Mobaye was dominant, aggressively attacking the paint and hitting three-pointers. He scored double-digit points in the first quarter alone. Supported by 'scoring machine' Archie Goodwin, who provided timely baskets, and reserve player Wu Yung-sheng, who hit key outside shots, the Braves entered halftime with a nearly 20-point lead.
In the second half, the Pilots regained their outside shooting rhythm and launched a fierce comeback, cutting the deficit to just 3 points at one stage. However, Goodwin hit a crucial three-pointer, and Mobaye sealed the game with a powerful dunk, allowing the Braves to triumph on the road. The victory brings them closer to their first championship in three years.
Mobaye led all scorers with 24 points, including three three-pointers. Starting import Goodwin delivered a well-rounded performance with 23 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Meanwhile, 'The Beast' Lin Chih-chieh, who will retire after this season, remained effective with 11 points and 6 rebounds. (Edited by Chang Ya-ching) 1150614
