(Taipei, April 14, CNA reporter Su Chih-Yu) The Wei Chuan Dragons of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) were once again suppressed by Jordan Balazovic, the pitcher from the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions. In fact, in their three matchups this season, Jordan has posted an ERA of only 1.06. Dragons manager Yeh Chun-Chang gave high praise, stating Jordan's release point resembles that of Hsu Jo-Hsi, and with improved breaking pitches, he could compete in foreign professional leagues.
Jordan Balazovic pitched six innings yesterday, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out seven, leading his team to a 6-1 victory over the Dragons. Across three starts against the Dragons this season, he has thrown 17 innings, surrendering only two runs on five hits, with 22 strikeouts and five walks, resulting in a WHIP of 0.59.
When asked about the difficulty in facing Jordan, Yeh stated frankly that Jordan excels in both pitching angle and velocity. "His vertical release angle is similar to Jo-Hsi's. He was hitting 150 km/h yesterday. If he develops one more quality breaking ball, he wouldn't be playing here in the CPBL."
Meanwhile, Kili-Kilau Kungkuan, who recently returned from injury, started as designated hitter yesterday, going 0-for-3. Manager Yeh noted that although the opposing pitcher was strong, Kili-Kilau's timing with the ball has improved compared to previous games. He will remain on the bench today, ready to pinch-hit. "The trainer says his leg is fine, but we still need to be cautious, especially with recent rainy weather making conditions unpredictable," Yeh added. (Editor: Lee Shu-Hua) 1150614
