According to reports from Central News Agency journalist Tsai Meng-yu in Kaohsiung on the 14th, a resident reported that their vehicle, parked near a construction site in Sanmin District, was severely damaged when construction materials fell from above. The owner had submitted insurance claim documents to the site management but received no follow-up, raising concerns about being unable to claim compensation.
In response, Kaohsiung's Public Works Bureau stated that an inspection had been conducted and confirmed the incident occurred during steel rebar lifting operations, where materials fell due to inadequate safety measures, resulting in damage to the civilian vehicle. Due to failure in maintaining on-site safety, the bureau has ordered an immediate work stoppage and imposed a fine of NT$90,000 on the contractor.
The bureau further stated that the construction company must comprehensively review its site safety management and lifting procedures. It has also required the contractor and related parties to proactively coordinate with the affected individual, providing compensation through insurance mechanisms and legal liability frameworks to protect public rights.
