Penghu Maritime Vocational High School has sent three students—Hsu Po-yen, Chen Chih-wei, and Wu Te-wei—to compete in the '115th Special Olympics Badminton Competition and Unified Badminton Selection Tournament for the 2027 World Summer Special Olympics'. All three won first place in their respective categories, paving the way for potential qualification to the international event.
The selection tournament was held on June 13 and 14 at New Taipei Industrial High School. Hsu Po-yen competed in the M05 singles division, while Chen Chih-wei and Wu Te-wei teamed up in the M04 unified doubles category. Facing competitors from across Taiwan, the trio remained composed and ultimately claimed first place in their divisions.
Principal Yen Chia-ho of Penghu Maritime emphasized that the Special Olympics is not just about athletic performance, but more importantly about the spirit of 'courage, participation, and inclusion'. He praised the students for their perseverance and determination, calling their achievement a precious outcome of education and a rare honor to qualify for the world stage.
