(Taipei, New Taipei City, June 14) — In the Yu-Shan Cup youth baseball tournament, Taitung County defeated Hualien County 1-0. Taitung's outfielder Lin Yi-Hsun delivered two hits, including a double, showcasing his power-hitting ability. Head coach Chen Feng-Yueh stated that Lin possesses long-ball potential, having hit at least five home runs during his high school career, and plans to challenge the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) draft upon graduation.

In the 115th Yu-Shan Cup, Taitung County faced Hualien County in the winners' bracket. Neither team scored through the first six innings. In the bottom of the 7th, Lin Chung-Pin drew a walk, Lin Yi-Hsun followed with a single, Fang Pin-Yen was intentionally walked, and Liao Yuan-Lin delivered a walk-off single to secure the win.

Lin Yi-Hsun grounded out to third in the 1st inning, hit a double in the 4th, and recorded his second hit of the game in the 7th. He said, "My first at-bat wasn't good, but I observed the pitcher's patterns. In later at-bats, I didn't set a specific target — I just attacked when the ball entered my preferred zone."

Lin aims to enter the CPBL draft. Coach Chen noted that Lin is the team's home run leader this season with at least five homers. One standout moment was a three-run homer against Taichung in last year's Wang Chen-Chih Cup at Li-Te Baseball Field, off pitcher Chung Yi-En.

Chen described Lin as a power hitter who plays corner positions — primarily first base, but also capable in the outfield. To expand his defensive versatility, Lin has also trained at second base.

Lin believes his biggest improvement in high school has been mental adjustment — quickly recovering from a poor at-bat. However, he aims to reduce swing-and-miss rates, improve pitch recognition, and enhance his power hitting.

To prepare for the professional level, Lin has consulted with senior alumnus Chu Meng, a fellow Taitung Physical Education High School graduate now playing for the Taiwan Steel Eagles, about training regimens and the pro environment. (Edited by Chang Ya-Ching) 1150614
