(CNA, Washington, 13th – comprehensive international news) Donald Trump, the oldest former president in U.S. history, is reportedly celebrating his 80th birthday today in his characteristic aggressive style with a brutal mixed martial arts event on the South Lawn of the White House—an arrangement that has drawn sharp criticism.

This unprecedented presidential birthday celebration will feature 14 fighters from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) battling fiercely inside a ring, with fights expected to draw blood.

The event is set on the South Lawn of the White House, where a massive temporary steel dome named "The Claw" has been erected, capable of seating over 4,000 spectators. Fighters will compete inside the central octagonal cage. Additionally, a giant screen has been installed on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., allowing approximately 125,000 people to watch the event live.

The $60 million combat event is being held alongside this year’s celebrations for the 250th anniversary of American independence.

Critics have mocked the event as a "spectacle of violence" in the backyard of the White House, especially criticizing the poor taste given the ongoing U.S.-Iran war driving up inflation.

Last month, Trump welcomed muscular fighters into the Oval Office at the White House, saying, "You're going to love this fight."

The White House emphasized that the UFC, the event organizer, will cover all costs.

UFC executive Craig Borsari denied any attempt to politicize the sport.

Michael Chandler, one of the fighters competing today, called it "the biggest fight in combat sports history."

French fighter Ciryl Gane said he would focus on the sport itself, adding, "We don’t talk politics, but we must seize this opportunity to be seen globally."

Peter Loge, dean of the School of Media and Public Affairs at George Washington University, told AFP: "Trump’s presidency is like his old reality show—flashy, over-the-top performances."
