(Taipei, June 14, CNA reporter Tseng Yun-ting) The Taiwan Communications Association completed the election of its 10th board of directors and supervisors on June 12, with Professor Wang Wei-Ching from the Institute of Mass Communication at National Taiwan Normal University assuming the role of chairperson. Wang stated that in light of the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), which presents new challenges to communication networks, media services, and digital governance, the association will continue to serve as a communication platform among industry, government, and academia, promoting rational discussions on related policy issues.

The association announced in a press release today that the 10th First General Assembly was held on June 12 at the International Conference Center of National Taiwan University Hospital. In addition to reviewing the annual operational and financial reports, the assembly completed the election of the 10th board and supervisory board, and elected the standing directors, standing supervisors, and chairperson. The newly elected standing directors are Wang Wei-Ching, Liu Chong-Chien, Tsai Chih-Hung, Liu Po-Li, and Chen Ching-Ho, with Wang Wei-Ching appointed as chairperson. Chen Yi-Chun was elected as the standing supervisor.

The association stated it will continue to serve its members and promote academic research, industry exchanges, and policy dialogues in the field of communications and broadcasting.

Liu Chong-Chien, outgoing chairperson of the 9th board, expressed gratitude for the long-term support from institutional and individual members during his tenure. He expressed hope for continued deepening of international academic exchanges and enhanced global visibility of Taiwan's communications and broadcasting research and policy discussions.

Current Secretary-General Chien Wei-Keh emphasized that in response to the rapid advancement of communications, broadcasting, and digital technologies, the association will strengthen interactions with regulatory authorities, industry, and academia, fulfilling its role as a professional academic organization in public policy advocacy.

Chairperson Wang Wei-Ching stated that the association will uphold its founding principles, maintaining a professional, neutral, and open stance to consolidate expertise from academia, industry, and government. She noted that recent rapid advancements in AI technology are increasingly affecting communication networks, digital platforms, content production, data utilization, and public governance, creating new topics for communications and broadcasting policy discussions.

The Taiwan Communications Association has long positioned itself as an objective platform for discussions on communications and broadcasting policies. Its membership includes university professors, experts and scholars in telecommunications and media, and industry representatives from across Taiwan. This year, the association has eight institutional members: Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, Far EasTone Telecommunications, Taiwan Telecommunications Industry Development Association, Telecommunications Technology Center, Aldi Digital Technology, Zhongjia Digital, and Kbro. There are also over 60 individual members.

The association highlighted that future policy discussions must balance technological innovation, industrial competitiveness, public interest, user rights, and social trust in light of emerging trends such as AI, next-generation communications, low-orbit satellites, cybersecurity resilience, digital platforms, and media service transformation. The 10th board and supervisory team will deepen professional engagement, monitor international trends and Taiwan's policy needs, and promote public discourse in the fields of communications, broadcasting, and digital governance.
