New Taipei City Mayor Hou You-ih departed for the United States on the 13th. The city government stated today that Mayor Hou's trip is a private, self-funded journey taken during personal leave. He will officially lead a delegation of New Taipei-based companies to participate in the '2026 Automation Technology Expo' in Chicago on June 22, with return scheduled for June 24.

Media reports cited online posts claiming that Hou was spotted on the 14th at Rate Field, the home stadium of the Chicago White Sox. In response, the city government reiterated that Hou's U.S. visit is a private, self-funded trip.

The city government added that Mayor Hou will join the official delegation in the evening of June 17 (local U.S. time), lead the companies in the exhibition, and visit local government agencies, with the delegation scheduled to return to Taiwan in the early hours of June 24.

Director Sheng Xiao-rong of the Economic Development Bureau stated that the city government will lead 20 local companies to the U.S. on June 17. The delegation will attend the '2026 North American Automation Technology Expo' at McCormick Place in Chicago from June 22 to 25.
