U.S.-Iran War Key News
Central News Report
(Tehran, Central News Agency, June 14) — After Israel, a U.S. ally, attacked southern suburbs of Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, Iran's chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said today that continuing peace negotiations with the United States is 'meaningless.'
According to AFP, Ghalibaf posted on the social platform X: 'The Zionist aggression against Dahieh in southern Beirut once again shows that the United States either lacks the will or the ability to fulfill its commitments.'
'If you lack the will or ability to uphold your commitments, then discussing the continuation of this path is meaningless.'
Ghalibaf made these remarks as the U.S. and Iran are working to finalize a peace agreement.
Iran has consistently insisted that any agreement must include a ceasefire in Lebanon, where Israel is engaged in combat with Hezbollah, a militia group supported by Iran. (Translated by Yang Chao-Yen) 1150614
