Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takagi announced today, ahead of her European visit, that she will propose a joint stockpiling initiative for critical minerals among G7 nations at the upcoming Group of Seven (G7) summit in France.

According to Kyodo News, Prime Minister Takagi also plans to introduce three principles: countering unjust export restrictions, supporting enhanced oil reserves in Asia and other regions, and addressing coercive economic measures.

This will be Prime Minister Takagi's first G7 summit since taking office. She departed today from Tokyo's Haneda Airport aboard a chartered flight, with the United Kingdom as her first stop in Europe.

Takagi has previously emphasized the importance of securing energy stability and strengthening critical mineral supply chains amid regional tensions in the Middle East, stating her desire to 'demonstrate a united G7 leadership in addressing global challenges.'
