Korean Star Donghae Closes KKBOX Awards with Chinese Song 'Yue Ding' Holding Dual Meaning

(Taipei, June 13, CNA reporter Wang Hsin-yu) Korean star Donghae closed the KKBOX Music Awards tonight, performing 'RACE' and 'HAErise,' and teaming up with WeiBird for a duet of 'Best Friend.' Donghae revealed that his choice to sing the Chinese song 'Yue Ding' (Promise) symbolizes his hope to meet fans again, and expressed his dream of holding a solo concert at Taipei Arena in the future.

WeiBird opened his set with his hit 'If We Can,' followed by a cover of Jacky Cheung's 'Kiss Goodbye.' He then performed 'Want to Watch the May Sunset with You' with Chen Hua, before Donghae joined on stage for their duet.

Speaking in Mandarin, Donghae joked, 'KKBOX is my best friend, and the second is WeiBird.' He humorously added that he almost teared up from nervousness, then clarified, 'Actually, the duet was so beautiful, it moved me to tears.'

In a post-show interview, Donghae shared that performing in Taiwan with his first solo album was both thrilling and heartwarming. 'I poured my heart into this album and have so much I want to share with my fans,' he said. Choosing 'Yue Ding' was a message to fans: 'We made a promise to meet again.' He hopes to one day stand alone on stage at Taipei Arena. 'I’ll bring even better music to my fans,' he promised.

Golden Melody-winning band Cosmos People debuted the theme song 'No One Is Like Me' from the drama 'The Wedding I Never Gave You.' Accusefive performed 'Healing,' 'I Want to Possess You,' 'Running Through the Night,' and 'Missed Lovers,' showcasing their diverse musical range.

Vanness Wu returned to the KKBOX stage after 10 years, performing 'Dance Until We Die,' 'Ur the Reason,' and 'Masterpiece.' However, he accidentally knocked over a microphone stand during a spin. In a backstage interview, he revealed he had fallen ill days prior, leaving him bedridden and unable to fully rehearse.
