Central News Agency Report

(CNA reporter Liu Chien-Pang, Taipei, 13th) The Kuomintang (KMT) Taipei City Party Branch announced today that it has nominated Li Fu-Yu-Ting to run for the city council seat in the mountain indigenous constituency, following allegations that incumbent KMT councilor Li Fu-Chung-Wu embezzled aide fees. Li Fu-Yu-Ting said her candidacy represents not only generational succession but also a responsibility to continue her father's 16-year mission of fighting for indigenous rights.

Li Fu-Chung-Wu is suspected of using relatives of his wife as nominees to fraudulently claim aide fees totaling over NT$10 million. In March, the Taipei District Prosecutors Office summoned Li Fu-Chung-Wu and six others for questioning and ordered him released on NT$5 million bail, with restrictions on leaving the country.

In March, the KMT Taipei City Party Branch announced registration for its councilor primary elections, including the mountain indigenous constituency. However, Li Fu-Chung-Wu, who is involved in the case, did not apply.

The KMT Taipei City Party Branch stated in a press release today that it has nominated Li Fu-Yu-Ting to run for the Taipei City Council's mountain indigenous seat. Li Fu-Chung-Wu, the incumbent councilor, has long been rooted in grassroots work and has contributed to local services for over 16 years. First elected in 2010 (Minguo Year 99), he has consistently averaged over 2,100 votes per election, demonstrating solid grassroots support and substantial service achievements.

KMT Taipei City Party Branch Chairman Dai Hsi-Chin said in the press release that, in response to changing demographic structures and needs among urban indigenous populations, a new generation with professional capabilities, familiarity with local affairs, and understanding of indigenous needs must engage in public service.

He stated, "Li Fu-Yu-Ting has long served as a special assistant to Councilor Li Fu-Chung-Wu, accompanying him in local service activities, policy promotion, and handling of tribal members' complaints. She deeply understands the issues faced by urban indigenous people and has accumulated rich experience in public affairs."

Li Fu-Yu-Ting said in the press release, "Running for office is not just about generational succession, but also about taking responsibility. I will carry forward the spirit with which my father has fought for indigenous rights over the past 16 years."

The KMT Taipei City Party Branch stated that Li Fu-Yu-Ting possesses grassroots experience, passion for service, and a new-generation perspective, enabling her to inherit the service achievements Li Fu-Chung-Wu has built over the years and continue safeguarding indigenous rights.
