(Central News Agency reporter Huang Hsu-sheng, New Taipei, June 13) The public welfare beach cleanup event 'Love the Ocean, Join the Beach Cleanup' was held today at Baisha Bay in Shimen District, New Taipei City. Artists, actors, and numerous volunteers joined forces to clear about 252 kilograms of marine waste, restoring the coastal environment to a clean state.
The New Taipei City Trust Charity Volunteer Association announced today that, in response to the principles of environmental sustainability and marine conservation, it has partnered with the Formosa Television Cultural and Educational Foundation to mobilize nearly a thousand volunteers for a beach cleanup at Baisha Bay this morning.
The association stated that volunteers braved the scorching sun to contribute to marine ecosystem protection, with many participants bringing their families, demonstrating passion and responsibility for environmental preservation. The event also invited artist Hsu Chien-ching and several other actors to join the marine conservation efforts.
Hsu Chien-ching said, 'The ocean is Taiwan’s most precious asset. When visiting the seaside, I hope people not only enjoy the scenery but also make environmental protection a daily habit—simply by taking their trash with them to help preserve our marine environment.'
Hsu Mu-chuan, chairman of the New Taipei City Trust Charity Volunteer Association, stated that the association was founded to promote a nationwide volunteer spirit and foster a society built on love and trust. This beach cleanup marks the association’s first major public welfare initiative since its establishment in May, successfully removing approximately 252 kilograms of marine debris.
Hsu emphasized, 'Protecting the ocean is not a one-day event but a shared responsibility and mission for all citizens.' The association will continue to advance various public welfare services, including meal delivery for the underprivileged, tutoring support, and other charitable activities, continuously spreading positive impact.
