Former President Tsai Ing-wen traveled south to Kaohsiung early this morning to attend multiple events, starting with the graduation ceremony at Kaohsiung Medical University, followed by blessing visits to Shenghe Temple in Sanmin District and Fudingjin Baoan Temple. Crowds gathered wherever she went, with enthusiastic supporters holding up signs inviting her to "go hiking together."
After leaving Kaohsiung Medical University, Tsai arrived at Shenghe Temple around 9:58 a.m. The temple square was already packed with waiting supporters, creating a lively atmosphere. Accompanied by Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai, DPP legislators Lai Jui-long, Chiu I-ying, and Lee Kun-tse, Tsai entered the temple to perform incense offerings and prayers.
Tsai then moved to the square to interact with the public, displaying strong approachability. One child held up a photo taken with her six years ago and took another picture. The parent said, "President Ying-jeou is very down-to-earth; back then, the child was still sucking a pacifier." The temple stated this was Tsai's fourth visit, expressing deep honor and appreciation for her continued presence.
After concluding activities at Shenghe Temple, Tsai proceeded to Fudingjin Baoan Temple, where she was greeted by long-waiting supporters with cheers. One supporter held a sign saying, "President Tsai, let's go hiking together!" Tsai took photos with many attendees.
Following the blessing ritual, Tsai presented an inscribed plaque to the temple and posed for commemorative photos with temple officials, local groups, and neighborhood leaders.
After the event, Lai Jui-long told reporters he was grateful for Tsai's ongoing support for Kaohsiung's development. This marks her third recent visit to the city. Sanmin District was also a key winning area in her past elections. He expressed appreciation not only for her temple visits but also for her personal encouragement.
Prior to the press briefing, supporters presented Lai with zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) and baozi (steamed buns), chanting "Lai, the mayoral candidate, will win!" (Edited by Huang Ming-hsi) 1150613
