(Taipei, June 13, reporter Huang Chiao-wen) Three Taiwanese airlines raised their booking service fees in March and April 2024. China Airlines will further adjust its fees starting July 9, increasing the booking service fee from USD 28 to USD 30 (from NT$892 to NT$956). Additionally, the fee for applying for an airport clearance certificate will rise to NT$200 starting July 1.
Flight bookings are processed through the Global Distribution System (GDS). Based on the user-pays principle, booking service fees are collected with each ticket. Currently, all major Taiwanese airlines—including China Airlines, EVA Air, Starlux Airlines, and Tigerair Taiwan—include booking service fees in their ticket prices.
China Airlines stated in a press release that, referencing industry standards and market mechanisms, the booking service fee will be adjusted to USD 30 effective July 9. Starting July 1, the fee for applying for an airport clearance certificate in Taiwan will increase from NT$100 to NT$200 per document.
EVA Air and China Airlines previously raised their booking service fees in March 2024, increasing from USD 25 (approximately NT$797) to USD 28 (approximately NT$892) per ticket. Starlux Airlines raised its fee from USD 25 to USD 30 (approximately NT$956) effective April 1.
Tigerair Taiwan maintains its booking service fee at NT$400 per passenger per segment during peak seasons and NT$300 during off-peak seasons. (Editor: Chang Ming-kun) 1150613
