(Central News Agency reporter Wu Shu-wei, Taipei, June 13) One T-34 primary trainer aircraft of the Air Force crashed during training on June 2, resulting in the deaths of two pilots. In response, the Air Force immediately suspended all T-34C training missions under the 'Tian'an 4' operation and initiated enhanced maintenance inspections. The Air Force Command announced today that the 'Tian'an 4' special inspection for the T-34 trainer fleet has been completed, and flight training has resumed as of today.
The T-34C primary trainer (tail number 3414), based at Gangshan Air Base, crashed at the northern end of the runway 21 minutes after takeoff on June 2, during a simulated engine failure approach training mission flown by Lieutenant Colonel Guo Jun-nan and pilot Lu Ji-you, resulting in the deaths of both crew members.
The Air Force Command stated in a press release this morning that the 'Tian'an 4' special inspection for the T-34 trainer aircraft has been completed following the '0602' flight safety incident, and flight training has resumed as of today.
The Air Force Command further explained that the investigation into the incident is still ongoing. Special inspections have already been conducted on critical aircraft systems, and enhanced academic, practical, and simulator training has been implemented for personnel to ensure flight safety.
