Tech Leaders Warn Trump Administration Over Risks of Anthropic's Advanced Models

(Central News Agency, Washington, 13th -综合外电) According to sources, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy met with senior officials of the Trump administration this week alongside several other tech industry leaders, expressing concerns about the security risks posed by the most advanced models developed by AI company Anthropic.

Amazon did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment on these remarks.

Yesterday, the Trump administration ordered Anthropic to prohibit all foreign nationals from accessing its latest AI models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, citing national security concerns. This restriction applies regardless of whether these individuals reside inside or outside the United States.

In response, Anthropic announced it would suspend global access to the affected models.

In a blog post yesterday, Anthropic stated that the U.S. government believes there are methods to bypass (i.e., 'jailbreak') the protective mechanisms. If so, malicious actors could exploit the AI model Fable 5 to identify software vulnerabilities.

Anthropic noted in the blog post that the U.S. government's restrictions are being implemented as export controls. The U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), which oversees export controls, has not yet responded to requests for comment.

Some experts who support export controls on advanced AI models are puzzled by this move, as it affects both U.S. allies and adversaries.

Jimmy Goodrich, a senior researcher at the University of California's Institute for Global Conflict and Cooperation, said the measure was poorly considered, as the ban even prevents 'Canadians and Britons working at Anthropic from using the models for research and development'.
