(CNA reporter Su Mu-chun, Taichung, April 13) Taichung Mayor Lu Hsiu-yen led a delegation to Europe, meeting with Baden, Austria's mayor Carmen Jeitler-Cincelli on April 12, and attended the 'FIABCI World Presidential Transition Gala' in the evening, witnessing the inauguration of Lily Chang as the new president.

Mayor Lu expressed pride in seeing outstanding women excel across various fields.

According to a press release issued today by the Taichung City Government, Mayor Lu arrived in Austria on April 12, first visiting Baden City Hall to meet with National Council member and Mayor Carmen Jeitler-Cincelli. Later that evening, she attended the 'FIABCI World Presidential Transition Gala,' where Lily Chang officially assumed the role of incoming president.

During the exchange, both leaders discussed topics including parliamentary systems, city marketing, tourism, education policies, and family support.

Mayor Lu noted that Baden is renowned for its hot springs and wine, and boasts a long-standing tradition in music and art, having hosted legendary composers such as Beethoven and Mozart. Taichung, she said, features cultural highlights like the Opera House, Mazu Pilgrimage, and Jazz Festival, which resonate with Baden's Photo Festival, Imperial Festival, and Wine Festival. She expressed hope for building a closer cooperative relationship between the two cities.

At the gala, Lily Chang, current Chair of the Chinese Taipei Real Estate Association and President of FIABCI Taiwan Chapter, officially assumed the presidency of FIABCI for the 2026–2027 term during the 76th FIABCI World Congress. This makes her the first ethnic Chinese woman to lead the organization in its 75-year history.

As a female leader, Mayor Lu said she felt immense pride seeing accomplished women rise in various fields. She emphasized that Chang, being from Taichung, is a source of pride for the city's residents. The Taichung City Government pledged full support to ensure the success of the '2026 FIABCI International Trade Exchange Conference,' scheduled to be held in Taichung in September.
