Following her national record in the women's 100m butterfly yesterday, Taiwan-American swimmer Han An-chi broke another record today in the women's 200m butterfly at the Chungcheng Cup Swimming Championships, winning gold with a time of 2:09.25 and surpassing the previous national record set by Cheng Wan-jung in 2009.
The 115th National Chungcheng Cup Swimming Championships, held at the Shih Hsin Gymnasium of Taipei Municipal University, served as the final opportunity to qualify for the Nagoya Asian Games. Han An-chi, who represented Taiwan at the Paris Olympics, returned from her NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) season in the United States to compete. She has now broken national records in both the women's 100m and 200m butterfly events, demonstrating excellent form.
Yesterday, Han competed in the women's 100m butterfly (18 and above age group), clocking 57.98 seconds to claim gold. This not only erased her own previous national record of 59.73 seconds set at last year's National Games, but also brought her within just 0.03 seconds of the Los Angeles Olympic 'B' standard for the women's 100m butterfly. Olympic qualification periods will officially begin in March 2027.
Today, Han continued her strong performance in the 200m butterfly, finishing in 2:09.25 to win gold and break Cheng Wan-jung’s 2009 national record of 2:09.35 set at the East Asian Games. With national records already in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, and 200m backstroke, Han now holds a total of five national swimming records. (Edited by Chen Jen-hua) 1150613
