Central News Agency Report

(CNA reporter Yang Sijui, Tainan, June 13) The Tainan District Prosecutors Office is investigating senior executives of TCC Green Energy for alleged breach of trust and other charges. Yesterday, prosecutors executed search and seizure operations at 12 locations, summoning and detaining seven suspects. The prosecution requested the court to detain three executives—Wang, a senior project manager; Chuang, special assistant to the general manager; and Hsieh, deputy manager—without bail or visitation, which the court approved.

In a press release issued today, the Tainan District Prosecutors Office stated that prosecutors preliminarily determined that Wang, Chuang, and Hsieh received over NT$20 million in illicit benefits from contractors between 2022 and 2023, related to the TCC Jiaqian Green Energy Yizhu solar-aquaculture co-location project.

The prosecutors further stated that Wang and Chuang received over USD 1 million in illicit benefits in 2023 from the Yizhu and Longjiang solar-aquaculture projects. Additionally, Chuang is suspected of extorting over NT$1 million from contractors associated with the Yizhu project in 2022.

Prosecutors concluded that Wang, Chuang, and Hsieh are suspected of breach of trust and money laundering. Chuang is additionally suspected of extortion. Given the significant suspicion, risk of flight, evidence tampering, and collusion with accomplices or witnesses, the prosecution requested pre-trial detention without visitation early this morning, which the court granted.
