The 2026 Taipei Water Dance Festival officially opened today, with Mayor Chiang Wan-an announcing expanded attractions including dual water performances on bridges and rivers, and a new tech-driven interactive installation called the 'Piano Fountain'. He invited the public to enjoy nightly strolls in Songshan from now until the 27th.
The Taipei Department of Information and Tourism held the opening ceremony at Songshan Xikou Wharf today, launching the 15-day festival with a dazzling 'Water and Fire Dance' performance. The spectacle combined water jets and fireworks, accompanied by music from the classic musical 'The Phantom of the Opera'.
Mayor Chiang stated that over the past two years, the festival has attracted more than one million visitors, creating lasting memories while boosting local tourism and economic activity.
Now in its third year, the event has expanded further. In addition to the dual water shows, an S-shaped platform has been constructed over the Keelung River. The festival also features international IPs My Little Pony and the Pingu family, along with a new interactive tech installation—the 'Piano Fountain'—where visitors can create their own rhythms using their feet.
From today through the 27th, water dance performances will be held nightly at 6:30 PM, 7:30 PM, 8:30 PM, and 9:00 PM, with different musical themes each week. Mayor Chiang encouraged nightly visits, suggesting attendees follow in the footsteps of NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang by exploring Raohe Night Market and experiencing the charm of Songshan.
The Piano Fountain experience is limited to 140 participants per day, with sessions from 6:45 PM to 7:20 PM and 7:45 PM to 8:20 PM. Starting tomorrow, numbered tickets will be distributed from 6:00 PM nightly. After improvising on the giant piano keyboard, participants trigger a mini fountain show for photo opportunities.
