The Taichung International Exhibition Center has attracted more than 1.37 million visitors since its opening, resulting in significant vehicle congestion and parking demand in surrounding areas. The Taichung City Government announced today that it has implemented improvements including the addition of motorcycle parking spaces. The public is encouraged to use mobile apps to check real-time parking availability and reduce search time.

In a press release issued today, the Taichung City Government stated that since the center's opening on March 23, over 1.37 million people have visited. To improve surrounding traffic order and manage vehicle flow during large events, the city's Transportation Bureau has completed optimizing traffic signal timings at key intersections, including the junctions of Liming Road and Zhongke Road, Liming Road and Kaiyuan Road, Huanzhong Road and Kaiyuan Road, and Kaiyuan Road and Qiaoda Road.

Taichung Transportation Bureau Director Ye Zhao-fu stated that in addition to signal optimization, 43 parking guidance signs have been installed on surrounding roads to direct motorists and motorcyclists to nearby parking facilities. Recently, three new parking information guidance displays were added at key transportation nodes in the Shuinan area, increasing the total number of such displays to five.

The Transportation Bureau explained that these parking guidance signs, combined with a real-time parking information system, help divert vehicles to surrounding parking lots, reducing drivers' search time and unnecessary circling, thereby improving overall traffic efficiency. Furthermore, the bureau has reviewed the surrounding transportation network and parking resource allocation, adjusting space at the 'Jingmao 6' and 'Jingmao 8' temporary parking lots to enhance parking supply and convenience.

Director Zhou Zhi-yuan of the Taichung Parking Management Office explained that the 'Jingmao 6' and 'Jingmao 8' lots were previously used mainly for cars. To meet growing motorcycle parking demand and prevent mixed traffic flow that could disrupt on-site circulation, the Transportation Bureau has implemented a vehicle segregation policy, officially designating dedicated motorcycle parking zones at both locations. This has added a total of 1,021 motorcycle parking spaces, alleviating motorcycle parking pressure.

Additionally, the public can use the Transportation Bureau's 'Taichung Traffic Network' app to check real-time parking availability near event venues. Meanwhile, the official website of the Taichung International Exhibition Center features a 'Traffic Information' section with a dedicated 'Parking Information' area that displays real-time availability at surrounding parking lots. This allows visitors to check parking conditions before departure or en route, reducing search time and unnecessary traffic circulation, thereby enhancing overall traffic efficiency during large events.
