(CNA reporter Chen Chih-chung, Taipei, June 13) Music producer Bao Xiaobai delivered a speech today at the National Taipei University of Technology's (NTUT) graduation ceremony as the representative of graduating students, using AI technology to create a virtual image of his late daughter. The father-daughter reunion moved many in attendance. Environmental Protection Administration Minister Peng Chi-ming encouraged students to seize AI opportunities and engage in the field of net-zero transformation.
NTUT held its graduation ceremony today, with EPA Minister Peng Chi-ming and Alumni Association President Chang Shan-li invited as keynote speakers. Bao Xiaobai, a doctoral graduate from the Department of Business Administration, served as the student speaker.
Peng praised NTUT students for their practical mindset and precise execution ability. He shared that throughout his entrepreneurial journey and recent government role, he has received significant support from NTUT alumni.
Peng also noted that today's graduates are the 'first AI generation.' While AI holds tremendous potential, it also demands substantial power and energy resources. Achieving 'net-zero transformation' is impossible without technological breakthroughs, and he urged young students to use digital technology to develop solutions.
During the ceremony, Bao used AI-generated imagery to reunite virtually with his late daughter, stating, 'If I didn't graduate, I would let my daughter down.' He transformed his longing for his daughter into research on AI, voice, and image reconstruction technologies, demonstrating how technology can respond to human emotion and memory.
Bao encouraged graduates to remember that even amid rapid change and unknown challenges, technological advancement must be grounded in human warmth and love. He urged them to cherish their families, teachers, and friends who supported them, and to move forward with resilience, gratitude, and courage. (Edited by Li Heng-shan) 1150613
