TEHRAN, Jan. 12 (Central News Agency) — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said today that the draft agreement reached with the United States will be signed 'remotely' once finalized, possibly 'within the coming days'.

According to AFP, Araghchi said in an interview with state television: 'Once the final stage of our negotiations is completed, the agreement will be signed and announced. The signing process will begin digitally. Both sides will sign remotely. Afterward, it will be announced that the memorandum of understanding has been signed by both parties.'

He added, 'This could happen within the coming days. I have great hope.'

Earlier, Araghchi stated that the framework of the 'Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding,' aimed at ending the U.S.-Iran war, has 'never been closer to being reached.'

U.S. President Trump yesterday said he had canceled a planned airstrike on Iran and claimed that an agreement to end the war could be signed soon.

Araghchi noted that he would disclose details once the framework is 'finalized and completed,' warning that revealing details now might 'jeopardize the signing of the agreement.'

He said the draft agreement includes ending the maritime blockade imposed by the U.S. on Iranian ports since April 13, and arrangements for managing the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Araghchi said: 'The maritime blockade must be completely lifted. This is the first point mentioned in the agreement.'

He indicated that 'Iran has made a clear decision that the management of the Strait of Hormuz will be different from before,' adding that Iran is discussing the matter with Oman.

He said the Strait of Hormuz is one of Iran's 'main deterrent means.'

He confirmed that details regarding Iran's nuclear program, including stockpiles of highly enriched uranium — a contentious issue for Washington — will be discussed within 60 days after the framework agreement is signed.

Araghchi said: 'Our position has always been that the only way to handle the inventory of enriched materials is to dilute it within Iran.'

In the interview, he warned against attempts to undermine the potential agreement, particularly by Israel. 'I must be frank — this agreement has enemies, and the foremost among them is the Zionist regime, which is looking for pretexts to obstruct this agreement,' he said.
