US stocks closed higher on optimism about a potential peace agreement between the United States and Iran, which sent oil prices tumbling, while SpaceX surged 19% on its first trading day following history's largest IPO.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 353.51 points, or 0.70%, to close at 51,202.26.

The S&P 500 index gained 37.16 points, or 0.50%, ending at 7,431.46.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite climbed 79.18 points, or 0.31%, to finish at 25,888.84.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index jumped 200.031 points, or 1.52%, closing at 13,371.469.
