(Central News Agency, Islamabad/Washington, 12th –综合 international news reports) Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced today that the final text of a peace agreement between the United States and Iran has been agreed upon by all parties. A U.S. official stated there is an 80% to 85% chance the agreement will be signed with Iran in the coming days.
According to AFP, Sharif posted on social media platform X: "We can confirm that a final peace agreement text has been reached and agreed upon by both the U.S. and Iran. Pakistan is currently working closely with both sides to finalize the next steps."
He tagged the presidents of the United States and Iran, as well as other leaders of both countries in his post. Pakistan has been mediating U.S.-Iran talks over the past several months.
Sharif said, "Peace has never been closer than it is now."
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated today that the possibility of a U.S.-Iran agreement to end Middle East hostilities is closer than ever before. This comes after U.S. President Trump angrily accused Tehran of lacking sincerity in negotiations.
Sharif said, "During Pakistan's ongoing intensive mediation efforts, we are fully aware that those attempting to undermine the peace agreement are continuously launching disinformation campaigns."
A senior U.S. government official said today that there is "80% to 85% confidence" the U.S. will sign a peace agreement with Iran in the coming days.
The unnamed senior official, speaking during a media conference call, said: "We expect the agreement to be signed in the coming days, but I cannot provide an exact date."
He added: "If you had asked me this morning about my confidence in signing the agreement, I might have said 75%, but now it's probably increased to 80% to 85%. However, it hasn't reached 100% yet." (Compiled by: Hsu Jui-cheng) 1150613
