(CNA Reporter Wang Cheng-chung, Taipei, 12th) Kuomintang (KMT) Vice Chairman Chang Jung-kung led a delegation to attend the Straits Forum and met with Fujian Provincial Party Committee Secretary Zhou Zuyi today. Chang Jung-kung stated that over the past 18 years, the Straits Forum has established a highly credible brand in cross-strait exchanges, expressing his hope to make it shine even brighter and to expand the promotion of cross-strait peace and common development.
The KMT Culture and Communications Committee issued a press release today pointing out that KMT Vice Chairman Chang Jung-kung led a delegation to Fujian Province in mainland China to attend the Straits Forum, and met with Fujian Provincial Party Committee Secretary Zhou Zuyi at noon today.
Chang Jung-kung expressed that he is glad to see Fujian's continued success in promoting the 15th Five-Year Plan, facilitating exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and Fujian. Citing the transformation of Kinmen and Xiamen from front-line battlegrounds to hubs of peace as a model, he hoped to promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
The KMT pointed out that during the talks, Zhou Zuyi highlighted the current status of Fujian Province's industries and construction under the 15th Five-Year Plan. He also detailed the vision and specific measures for Fujian's promotion of a cross-strait integrated development demonstration zone, as well as the living and developmental situation of Taiwanese businesses and citizens in Fujian.
Chang Jung-kung expressed gratitude to Fujian for its long-term care of Taiwanese businesses and youth in the province, hoping that Fujian will continue to care about the livelihood, welfare, and rights protection of Taiwanese compatriots as always.
