(Central News Washington 11th comprehensive foreign wire report)The Pentagon, the location of the U.S. Department of War, reported earlier today that a 'hazardous materials incident' had occurred. Multiple floors and corridors inside the building were sealed off, and other areas were evacuated. However, insiders later revealed to the American Cable News Network (CNN) that it was a false alarm.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said earlier that the Pentagon's internal systems 'detected air quality issues, and we had to take preventive measures before we confirmed the severity.'

He also said that the Department of War is implementing standard protective measures, including issuing stay-in-place orders for affected areas. 'The response team is in place and ready to assist personnel inside the building.'

Two insiders revealed that corridors 4 to 7, floors 2 to 5, of this large building complex were locked down. Another source told CNN that police inside the building were wearing gas masks and full chemical protective gear.

However, insiders later told CNN that this lockdown and partial evacuation order was due to a false alarm from the hazardous materials detector.

According to the radio communications of the first-line response personnel and a source, this evacuation action was initiated when the Pentagon's detection system detected the possible presence of anthrax. However, the source said that the detection system was malfunctioning at the time, causing this false report.

However, the source said that as of 12:30 PM, the lockdown order had not been lifted. (Edited by Yang Zhaoyan) 1150612
