With the Dragon Boat Festival approaching, Kinmen County Magistrate Chen Fu-hai visited units including the Coastal Patrol Team, Maritime Patrol Team, and Kinmen Hospital today. During his visit to the Kinmen Defense Command (Kinmen Defense Command), Chen announced plans to cooperate with the military to erect a monument at Mount Taiwu Cemetery, engraving the names of soldiers who died in battles such as the August 23 Artillery Battle.
As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches, Chen Fu-hai visited the Ninth Coastal Patrol Team of the Kinmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch of the Ocean Affairs Council's Coast Guard Administration, the Ninth Maritime Patrol Team, the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Kinmen Hospital, and the Army's Kinmen Defense Command in the afternoon.
The final stop of the visit was Jian Tan Mountain Villa at the Kinmen Defense Command. After presenting慰问金, Magistrate Chen held discussions with Lieutenant General Huang Hsien-jen, Commander of the Kinmen Defense Command. Chen stated that if the military requires assistance from the county government, "we will fully support." He also mentioned that recently, the county government has funded the project, and the military will plan to install two stone tablets at Mount Taiwu Cemetery to engrave the names of fallen soldiers.
Lieutenant General Huang stated that Kinmen has experienced historic battles such as the Guningtou, Daerdan, and August 23 Artillery Battles, and will cooperate with the Kinmen County Government to engrave the names of soldiers who died in these battles on the monument.
A press release issued by the Kinmen County Health Bureau stated that Magistrate Chen, accompanied by Director Chen Kuo-hsing of the Civil Affairs Department and Director Li Jin-zhi of the Health Bureau, successively presented慰问金 and gifts to various units. He expressed gratitude to the medical staff of Kinmen Hospital for steadfastly maintaining their posts, to the military for long-term support in patient evacuation services, to coast guard personnel for actively combating smuggling and maintaining regional security, and extended sincere thanks to the Air Rescue Team for their efforts in emergency patient evacuations.
