A passenger car evading police pursuit tonight lost control and skidded near Minsheng General Hospital in Taoyuan District, Taoyuan City, striking two pedestrians who were both rushed to hospital in critical condition. The driver, found unconscious, was also transported for emergency treatment. Police discovered drugs inside the vehicle, and the full circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
The Taoyuan City Government Fire Department reported receiving an emergency call at 8:27 p.m. regarding a collision between a passenger car and pedestrians at the intersection of Jingguo Road and Tianxiang 3rd Street in Taoyuan District. Three individuals were injured: two male pedestrians who showed no vital signs upon arrival at the hospital, and the driver, who was unconscious at the scene. All were sent for urgent medical care.
According to the Taoyuan Police Substation of the Taoyuan City Police Department, the vehicle was traveling at high speed to evade police inspection when it skidded during pursuit and struck the pedestrians. Police confirmed that drugs were found inside the car. Whether the driver was under the influence of narcotics and the precise sequence of events are still being clarified.
