A 60-year-old Chinese woman was sprayed with a liquid resembling tear gas, beaten, and had her shoulder bag containing approximately 8 million yen (about 1.6 million New Taiwan Dollars) stolen by two men.

According to NHK and TBS television, citing the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, a witness at the scene called 110 around 8:30 p.m. on the 10th, reporting a robbery on a pedestrian walkway in Ikebukuro, Toshima Ward, Tokyo.

The scene is located about 400 meters northwest of Ikebukuro Station, a bustling area lined with restaurants and office buildings.

According to the police investigation, the 60-year-old Chinese female victim was sprayed with a liquid resembling tear gas by two men, beaten on the back of the head, and had her shoulder bag stolen. The two suspects fled the scene, and the woman sustained minor injuries to her head.

The woman told police that the bag contained approximately 8 million yen in cash. The police are investigating the case as a robbery and assault and are searching for the two suspects who are still at large.

In late February of this year, a similar robbery and assault targeting a Chinese national occurred on a street in Sumiyoshi Ward, Osaka City, resulting in the theft of 5 million yen.
