Through EVA Airways' global in-flight entertainment system, award-winning works from the New Taipei City Documentary Awards will be shared. The first batch of three documentaries, 'Rebellious Widow,' 'Let the Bees Go Home,' and 'Eight-Year-Old K9,' will be available in May and June.

The New Taipei City Government Information Department stated at an afternoon press conference that the '2026 New Taipei Sky Film Festival' will be released in four phases. Starting in May, each phase will last two months and feature three documentary works. A total of 10 short films from past New Taipei City Documentary Award winners and 2 feature-length extensions of New Taipei City documentaries will be shown.

New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih stated that the 'New Taipei City Documentary Award' respects the spirit of creators and has supported many directors in telling moving stories. He said it will go global through the cloud, be shared with travelers, fly around the world along the airline routes, and continue to connect different cultures, showcasing the diverse perspectives of Taiwanese documentaries.

EVA Airways President Sun Chia-ming said that over the five years of cooperation with the city government, the 'New Taipei Sky Film Festival' has become an in-flight program that many passengers look forward to, accumulating much praise. He expressed hope that directors will continue to create excellent works to showcase Taiwan's soft power to the world, presenting international perspectives and themes of humanistic care, life education, and environmental sustainability.

The Information Department said that in May, the festival will feature director Wu Xingying's documentary 'Rebellious Widow,' which depicts her experience of losing her husband; director Hsu Chung-yen's 'Let the Bees Go Home,' which explores the impact of pesticides on ecological rhythms; and directors Chang Wei-chih and Lin Yi-ting's 'Eight-Year-Old K9,' which documents police dogs and their handlers maintaining public safety.

Furthermore, starting in July, the festival will feature 'Imperfect Farewell,' a documentary about long-term pet care and at-home euthanasia services; 'Floating Nest,' a documentary about homeless youth in Taipei navigating the streets and the system; and 'Our Coming-of-Age Ceremony,' which follows the growth journey of New Taiwanese children with mixed heritage between Indonesian and Taiwanese cultures.

The Information Department added that subsequent documentaries to be released include 'Highland Wanderers,' 'Border. Weaving,' 'Overseas Bridge,' 'Moving Ring,' 'Goodbye Elementary School,' and 'Little Theater People.' (Editor: Zhang Mingkun) 1150611
