Ai Xue Wang Campus Microfilm Competition Adopts Social Emotional Learning as Annual Theme

The National Academy for Educational Research's 'Ai Xue Wang' is soliciting campus microfilm submissions from teachers and students, incorporating Social Emotional Learning (SEL) as this year's annual theme.

The National Academy for Educational Research (NAER) issued a press release today stating that the 'Ai Xue Wang' 2026 series of competitions will open for online registration and submissions from June 15 to August 31. This year's activities have selected themes such as 'Sustainable Development,' 'Social Emotional Learning,' and 'Multiculturalism.' Competition categories include creative lesson plans, campus microfilms, and storytelling through videos, with total prizes reaching NT$488,000.

Among these, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is a recent focus in the education sector, emphasizing emotional management, cultivating empathy, and building good interpersonal relationships. Core competencies include 'self-awareness,' 'self-management,' 'social awareness,' 'relationship skills,' and 'responsible decision-making.'

NAER stated that this year's campus microfilm competition welcomes students from upper elementary to high school to form teams with a supervising teacher and create short films within 180 seconds. Works should focus on SEL themes, starting from friendship, stress, conflict, companionship, or growth, presenting stories of emotional understanding, interpersonal interaction, and self-growth through real campus scenarios, 'so that feelings difficult to express in words can be understood and gently held through images.'

NAER pointed out that all three competitions are conducted via online registration and submission; participants do not need to mail physical materials.
