(Central News Agency, reporter Wu Zhehao, Changhua 11th) Changhua County Huatan Township Chief Ku Sheng-min was impeached by the Control Yuan for abusing his authority by firing a sanitation team member, constituting workplace bullying, and for involving the sanitation team in assisting with private waste removal. The Huatan Township Office believes the Control Yuan's impeachment is unfair to the township chief.
The Control Yuan issued a press release yesterday stating that Changhua County Huatan Township Chief Ku Sheng-min illegally fired a sanitation team member. The court ruled against the township office, and the county government also determined that the office had engaged in workplace bullying. Ku also instructed the sanitation team leader to use administrative resources to assist in cutting down bamboo and trees and removing waste on specific private land. On June 2, the Control Yuan reviewed and passed an impeachment motion proposed by Control Yuan members Wang You-ling and Wang Mei-yu, and the case has been transferred to the Disciplinary Court for trial.
Huatan Township Office Chief Secretary Hong Wen-chun said in a media interview today that the sanitation team member was fired according to the law for insulting the team leader and accepting a gift box of peaches. Although the court ruled against the township office, they have filed an appeal.
Hong pointed out that regarding the cutting of bamboo and trees and waste removal on private land, the case was prosecuted by the prosecutor's office and is currently under trial at the Taiwan Changhua District Court. He expressed confusion as to why the Control Yuan rushed to impeach while the case is still under trial, stating this is unfair to the township chief. (Editor: Zhang Yajing) 1150611
