U.S. President Donald Trump announced today the cancellation of an attack on Iran scheduled for tonight, which he had publicly previewed hours earlier, because the "final points" of a U.S.-Iran agreement have been approved. Trump also hinted that a deal with Iran might be signed soon.

CNN reported that Trump wrote on his own social media platform, "Truth Social": "In light of the discussions with Iran being submitted to and approved by the highest leadership in Iran, I, as President of the United States, have canceled the airstrikes and bombing of Iran scheduled for tonight."

He stated: "The relevant discussions and the final points, both in concept and in detail, have been approved by all relevant parties."

Trump listed the countries involved in the approval process, including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt.

He also noted: "The maritime blockade [against Iran] will remain fully in effect until this 'deal' is completed."

"The time and place for signing will be announced soon."

Agence France-Presse reported that after Trump had earlier threatened that the U.S. would strike Iran hard tonight and seize Kharg Island, the Iranian side had warned Washington that doing so could lead to an "endless quagmire" of war and soaring energy prices.
