Landslides on Alishan Forest Railway Main Line Due to Heavy Rain; Service Suspended on the 12th

(Central News Agency reporter Cai Zhiming, Chiayi County, 11th) Due to continuous heavy rainfall in the mountainous areas of Chiayi County, the main line of the Alishan Forest Railway, which had been preemptively suspended since the 9th, will remain suspended tomorrow (the 12th) because of multiple slope landslides that have caused track damage. Machinery and personnel have been mobilized for repairs.

The Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office under the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture issued a press release today stating that landslides occurred on the main line at the Dushan section and the section from Fenchihu to Duolin. Service will remain suspended tomorrow, and the resumption date will be announced later based on weather conditions and the progress of track repairs.

However, the branch lines, including the Zhushan Line, Shenmu Line, and Zhaoping Line, are operating normally.

The Railway Office stated that passengers who have already purchased tickets can receive a full refund by presenting their tickets at any Alishan Forest Railway station or at any 7-Eleven IBON kiosk nationwide within one year from the travel date.
