Tainan City has experienced continuous rainfall since June 4. As of June 11, the maximum cumulative rainfall exceeded 110 millimeters. The city’s Water Resources Bureau activated a Level-3 emergency response center at 7 PM to address impacts from convective cells and frontal systems, enhancing coordination and enabling real-time responses to reports of flooding.

The bureau noted that due to the influence of a weather front, localized brief showers and thunderstorms have occurred across Taiwan. In Tainan, conditions have been overcast with intermittent showers or thunderstorms, particularly in lowland areas. Coastal and mountainous regions are prone to heavier localized rainfall, increasing the risk of heavy rain and short-duration downpours.

As of 7 PM, the highest cumulative rainfall was recorded in Nanhua District at 114.5 millimeters, followed by Nansi District at 107.5 millimeters and Rende District at 102.5 millimeters. The highest hourly rainfall was 63.5 millimeters in Nansi District, followed by 52.5 millimeters in Yujing District and 51.5 millimeters in Rende District. The maximum 10-minute rainfall reached 18 millimeters in both Nansi and Houbi Districts, followed by 17 millimeters in Rende and 14.5 millimeters in Yujing.

A total of 27 pumping stations—including Wan 1, Wan 2, Bao’an Station, Xiwan Station, and Haidong D—have been activated, pumping approximately 540,000 metric tons of water. The Water Resources Bureau and district offices have prepared 230,000 sandbags and distributed 4,100 waterproof barriers for use by district offices and local communities.

Zengwen Reservoir, Taiwan’s largest reservoir, had previously dropped below 10% capacity but has now rebounded to 19.73%, with an effective storage volume of 88.78 million metric tons. The connected Wushantou Reservoir has a storage rate of 37.15%, holding 29.29 million metric tons. Nanhua Reservoir, which supplies domestic and industrial water to Tainan, has recovered to 50.69% capacity, with an effective storage of 41.47 million metric tons.
